Ilya Shpota received his directing education at the Metropolitan College in Thessaloniki. He studied in Greece with Yorgos Lanthimos (Oscar nominee).
He made his directorial debut with the help of Ilya Naishuller's production company, Versus Pictures, shooting an award-winning music video for the Cassette artist titled "Euphoria"
This was followed by the action-packed music video "Pain Tears Blood", shot entirely from a third person, which won prizes for best music video in Paris and Los Angeles and for Best Director in Toronto. It was also the only Russian-made music video nominated for Best Director at the prestigious Berlin Video Clip Festival in 2024.
Ilya is constantly engaged in self-development, shoots short films and music videos. His vision is a pre-planned and rehearsed filigree precision. He strives for the ideal in both content and form.
